I cannot remember when music was not a part of my life. My Father, Mother, Sister, and I did a lot of singing together. My parents gave me nine years of piano lessons, starting at age of six. I was given great training in our high school choir. I have been a member of our church choir, First Baptist Church, Teague, Texas for many years. My husband, Charles, and I have been retired since 1988 because of an injury to Charles. I retired from the Teague Jewelry and Gift Shop as a buyer and clerk. After retiring, I started playing the banjo and guitar. This led us to bluegrass festivals and my involvement in bluegrass music. As a member of the Bluegrass Friends Bluegrass Band, I have been involved in entertaining at R.V. parks, churches, festivals and in the Rio Grande Valley the past two years. In 2002 I recorded my first bluegrass, gospel C.D. entitled "Shirley Jones…..Songs to Inspire".
Charles R Jones went to be with our LORD this year (2005).He will be missed by THE BLUEGRASS FRIENDS and all those who were his friends. Rest in peace our friend. You were greatly loved and respected.
